Description: This course summarizes normal feeding development from birth-3 years. The lesson will begin by identifying and defining atypical sensory motor patterns that interfere with normal feeding skills. The presenter will then provide a detailed description of an intervention program that serves to facilitate normal movement patterns while eating. This will include an oral motor treatment, as well as a progression of food textures to ensure success at mealtimes. Additionally, the presentation will introduce, define, and discuss sensory activities that encourage children to actively explore new foods.

Learning Objectives: The learner will be able to: 1. Summarize typical feeding development from birth to 3 years. 2. Identify atypical sensory motor behaviors which interfere with normal feeding development. 3.Design an intervention program which promotes the development of normal feeding skills.

Audience: OT, OTA, SLP, pediatricians, nurses.
